CHAPIN SOFTWARE / PIC

Diagnostic logs

What Debug mode enables, where each export is available and how to retrieve the file.

DEBUG MODE

Reproduce the problem, then export.

  1. Enable extra logging

Open PIC Settings, scroll to DEVELOPER and set Debug mode to ON. Debug mode enables extra diagnostic output and some advanced panels; it is not needed for normal use.

  2. Repeat the failing action

Note the action time and the result. Export before clearing logs or resetting relevant data.

  3. Save the relevant report

Use the general or module-specific export below. Verify that the file was saved, then copy it to USB or another accessible location.

  4. Keep it with the issue

Record the version/build, HU details and reproduction steps with the log. Turn Debug mode OFF when the investigation is finished.

EXPORT LOCATIONS

Choose the report for the affected function.

Settings · general report

DEVELOPER > Export diagnostic log. Saves a timestamped PCM_Next_OBD_Diagnostic_…txt report in PIC’s app-specific Documents/PCMNext folder. Despite its historical name, it includes general PIC/HU diagnostics. Export is also available with debug OFF.

Tuner · Radio log

With Debug mode ON: Tuner > SETTINGS > OPEN ENGINEERING > ADVANCED > SHOW ADVANCED > EXPORT LOG. Saves PIC_Radio_Diagnostic_…txt in app-specific Documents/PCMNext. Read the saved/error notice.

Phone · environment report

Phone > BLUETOOTH > DIAGNOSTICS > REFRESH, then EXPORT. Saves pcmnext_phone_diagnostics.txt in the app-specific diagnostics folder. The filename is reused; retain a copy before another export. This export does not require Debug mode.

OBD · connection log

OBD > DIAGNOSTICS > EXPORT LOG. Saves obd_log_…txt in app-specific Documents/PCMNext and displays the saved path or an error. Export does not require debug; ADVANCED DEBUG does.

RETRIEVE THE FILE

App-specific storage, not the top-level Documents folder.

The normal shared-storage destinations are:

Android/data/com.pino.porschelauncher/files/Documents/PCMNextAndroid/data/com.pino.porschelauncher/files/diagnostics

Android or the HU’s file manager may restrict Android/data access. Use an accessible file manager, or include the displayed path and access restriction in your support request. Exporting a file does not send it to support.

If export fails, record the message and check storage availability before retrying. Keep engineering test/write controls unchanged unless a specific support procedure calls for them.
